Today we remember the sacrifice of Sergeant Thomas Sewell of SEPTA Transit Police who was killed in the line of duty on this date in 1989.

Sergeant Sewell met his end of watch as a result of being stabbed investigating a prowler at the 69th Street Terminal Complex in Upper Darby.

He was a member of the agency for seven years and is survived by his wife.

We honor his memory today.

Sergeant Thomas Sewell was stabbed to death while investigating a prowler who was trespassing in a garage at the 69th Street Terminal Complex in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania.

Our condolences to our friends and partners in public safety in Darby Township.

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of K-9 Officer Luger. Luger passed Sunday after a medical complication. Luger was in service with our Department from February 2016 to February of 2022. To his handler Ofc. Mike Andrel and his family, your extended family extend our sincerest condolences on your/our family’s loss. Rest easy Luger.

Technically we’re west of the I-95 Corridor, but who knows what we’ll get. Either way, drive safely - like you’re driving your grandmother to church.

Folks, stay off the ice! It has been cold lately, but it doesn’t get cold enough around here anymore to safely be on the ice.

The children who fell through the ice are OK on Monday night.

A 21-year-old Borough man was arrested Friday night following a motor vehicle stop. Officer Jabril Muhammad conducted the stop just after 8 p.m. for an equipment violation. He was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant. A subsequent investigation revealed he was in possession of a Springfield XD and a Beretta PX4 Storm handgun along with a small amount of ma*****na.

A 28-year-old Borough man was arrested Wednesday night on a weapons charge during a traffic stop. Officer Jabril Muhammad conducted the stop around 10 p.m. upon observing a vehicle fail to obey a traffic control device. While speaking with the driver, it was learned that he was in illegal possession of a loaded G***k 30 handgun with an extended magazine. He was taken into custody and remanded to George W. Hill Correctional Facility in default of bail.
