Our thoughts and prayers are with the Christie family, the Folcroft Police and friends of Chief Christie.

It is with very deep sadness FOP Lodge 27 informs our members, family and friends the passing of one of our dearest members. Brother Edward “Captain Ed” Christie served the community of Folcroft Borough for over 25 years as police officer and chief. After his retirement he continued his public service as District Justice. He was a member of Lodge 27 for 41 years. It can never be disputed that Brother Christie was a Good Cop, a Great Chief and an Excellent Judge. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The Darby Borough Police Department is shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Delaware County Park Police Chief Scott Mahoney last night.

In 1992, Chief Mahoney began his law enforcement career as a Patrolman for the Delaware County Park Police. Over the years, he rose through the ranks until being officially sworn in as a chief of the Delaware County Park police in 2019. He also worked as a part-time patrolman for multiple departments in Delaware County as well as a volunteer fire fighter in Upper Darby. Chief Mahoney was also a founding member of the Delaware County Police Emerald Society.

We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Scott, the Delaware County Park Police and to all of our law-enforcement partners that have worked with Scott over the years.

Rest Easy Chief.

For the first time in recent history, a sitting President of the United States has visited Darby Borough (if we are incorrect, we're sure someone will point it out to us!). This will be a long post, but there are of lot of people who made this a successful day!

Yesterday, President Joe Biden visited Darby Borough for an interview at the Edward Bacon Recreational Center. The event was not open to the public, but the fans came out despite the gloomy and chilly weather.

Now that it's all over, we'd like to thank the many people who helped make yesterdays big event, a safe and successful one.

First and foremost, our residents and businesses. Parking restrictions, road closures and other inconveniences were taken in stride and everyone pitched in to make Darby Borough shine! Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

We'd also like to thank Darby Borough Mayor and Council, Darby Borough Manager Possenti, @Fire Chief Caruso and Darby Fire Co. # 1 Station 4, Darby Borough Highway Department, Ernel Contractors and the rest of the Borough staff for all their help.

Because of the strict parking restrictions, we'd like to thank Marvil Funeral Home, William Penn School District, Mt Zion AME Church for allowing local residents to use their parking lots!

The following Police Departments, Collingdale Police Department, Chief Martinez and the Colwyn Borough Police Deparment, Chief Coalson and Chester Township Police Department, CSX Police Department, Chief Sousa and the Darby Township Police Department, Director Tim Boyce, Assistant Director Ed Beebe and the Delaware County Emergency Services 911, Delaware County MIRT (Major Incident Response Team), Delaware County ERT n(Emergency Response Team) Region 1, Chief Viola, Lt. Kelly and Haverford Township Police Department, Chief Zimath and East Lansdowne Police, Chief Bair, Deputy Chief Eiserman and Folcroft Borough Police Department, Lansdowne Police Department, Chief Larry Smythe and Mercy fitzgerald EMS, Norwood Police, Philadelphia Police Department, Prospect Park Police Department, Radnor Township Police Department, Ridley Park Police Department, United States Secret Service, Inspector Reynolds and SEPTA Transit Police, Chief Herron and Sharon Hill Police Department, Chief Paparo and Yeadon Borough Police Department.

Because of the road restrictions and additional traffic, we used a Gator ATV to get back and forth to posts and special thanks to Chief Splain of the Nether Providence Police and 9-1-1 Director Boyce for the use of it!

If we missed anyone, we are sincerely sorry. It was a proud day for Darby Borough and without the help of the above people and businesses/Departments, the day would have not been as successful as it was. Thank you again!
