The Darien Patch covered the unveiling of the Darien Heritage Trail’s 4 newest markers at historical sites (link in bio). We had a great time with everyone who came out to participate in the ribbon cuttings. Principal Keri Snowden and some students joined us at Hindley School, and we had a nice crowd at Tilley Pond Park, where we had coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts.
 
The Darien Heritage Trail is a 200th Birthday gift to our town—launched by the 2020 Bicentennial Committee and funded by a $40,000 grant from The Darien Foundation.

This Saturday, December 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., you can purchase hats ($15), t-shirts ($10) and ornaments ($15) at the Museum of Darien (right next to Goodwives Shopping Center)! 💙

Darien’s history is coming to life on ⭐️ Heritage Day ⭐️ Saturday, October 23!
Join the Bicentennial Committee as we celebrate our town’s history and (postponed) 200th birthday with a day of festivities, which will include colonial demonstrations and battle skirmish reenactments featuring The Fifth Connecticut Regiment and the 15th Regiment of Foot at three historical landmarks: the Museum of Darien at 10:30 a.m., the First Congregational Church at 12:45 p.m., and at Mather Homestead at 2:30 p.m. !

Calling all history buffs ⭐️ and aspiring actors (again)! Take part in Darien’s history by participating in reenactments of two of the most dramatic events in our town's history - the (British) Tory raids on the Middlesex Meeting House and the Mather Homestead of 1781!

Auditions for speaking and non-speaking roles for volunteers age 12+ will be held by the Bicentennial Committee on Saturday, September 11 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Darien. These exciting reenactments will take place on Heritage Day on Saturday, October 23 (rain date October 24)!

Happy 200th Birthday (one more time) Darien! 💙🎂 Darien’s Bicentennial Bash, postponed from last year, was in full force on Saturday, June 5 at W**d Beach! Community members of all ages and stages were thrilled to gather and kick off the series of festivities to celebrate our town’s 200th birthday. Master of ceremonies and committee head, Al Miller thanked Jami Gore, Recreation Program Supervisor, for the incredible job she did in pulling together the event.
