On Friday, June 5, 2026, members of the Darien Police Department will proudly participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut, carrying the β€œFlame of Hope” through town in support of Special Olympics athletes across the state.

After years of loyal service, dedication, and countless hours protecting our community, the Darien Police Department proudly congratulates K9 Argo on a well-earned retirement. 🐾

K9 Argo served alongside his handler, Officer Amanda Hinkley, with professionalism, courage, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. Throughout his career, Argo played an important role in keeping our community safe and supporting officers in the field.

We thank K9 Argo and Officer Hinkley for their dedication and service to the Town of Darien and wish Argo a happy retirement filled with plenty of rest, treats, and time with family.

Today, we remember Officer Kenneth E. Bateman, Jr., who made the ultimate sacrifice on May 31, 1981, while responding to a commercial burglar alarm in Darien. A seven-year veteran of the Darien Police Department and proud United States Navy veteran, Officer Bateman was 34 years old. We honor his service, sacrifice, and memory.

The Darien Police Department advises motorists that Corbin Drive will be temporarily detoured for most of the day due to construction activity.

At this time, motorists will NOT be able to access Corbin Drive from Post Road. Police personnel are on scene and proper detour signage has been posted to assist with traffic flow.

Please seek alternate routes, allow for additional travel time, and use caution in the area.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

This Memorial Day, the Darien Police Department extends our deepest gratitude to all who served and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

We also remember the families, friends, and loved ones who carry their legacy forward.

The Darien Police Department congratulates our newest police officer, Steven Lambrinakos, who graduated this week from the Milford Police Academy! We are also extremely pleased to report that not only did Ofc. Lambrinakos successfully complete his rigorous basic training over the past six months, but he graduated top of his class and was presented with the β€œSamuel J. Luciano Award.” This lauded award is issued by the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association to the recruit in each police academy class who achieves the highest cumulative grade point average during basic training. Congratulations to Ofc. Lambrinakos!

Today he has begun his probationary employment period and will go through several more months of comprehensive field training. Congratulations to Ofc. Lambrinakos on this amazing achievement and welcome aboard!
