We will limit the content on this site-including in the comments section-to the topics we post about, and we reserve the right to control the topical scope of posts we make to the site. In general, the content posted here will be limited to matters related to City of Darien government. City of Darien government deals with a broad but not limitless array of issues. Things that do not relate to the business of City of Darien government, and which we reserve the right to delete, include the following:

1. Profane/Personal: Comments containing material that is profane, obscene, pornographic, or material of a purely insulting nature that is directed at a particular individual. The City's business relates to the public at large, and comments should reflect matters of public concern, not matters that are personal or private in nature.

2. Discriminatory: The City is not in the business of discriminating on the basis of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation, and comments of such a nature will be removed.

3. Threats/Safety: We will remove threats to the safety of others, whether directed at an individual or to the public at large. Such threats include inciting imminent lawless action, fighting words, and true threats.

4. Political: The City is not in the business of campaigning, politicking, or electioneering, and such content will be removed.

Join us this Friday as we a commemorate the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 with a “Silent Parade”.

This remembrance event will be held on September 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will start by the Darien Swim and Recreation Club, head down Beechnut Lane, and then head east on 71st Street, ending at Clarendon Hills Road by the Darien Community Park. City Hall will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Refuse/recycling collection services will be postponed by one day for the entire week. The overnight parking ban is currently suspended until Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00 a.m.

“Darien Never Forgets – 9/11”

This September marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001; a day that forever changed our nation and in many ways, changed each of us.

For those of us who remember that morning, we can recall where we were, what we were doing, and the sense of disbelief and fear that followed. We watched as our sense of security was shaken and as an attack on our nation reminded us of something we too often take for granted; our safety and our way of life are not guaranteed.

September 11 made us more aware of our vulnerability. It changed the way many of us traveled, went to work, entered public buildings, and thought about the world around us. But perhaps, and most importantly, it reminded us how much we depend on one another, and on the men and women who stand ready to protect us when we need them most.

Road Work on Lemont Rd

The DuPage County Division of Transportation’s 2026 Roadway Resurfacing Program is currently working on Lemont Road from Bluff Road to 87th Street. Their contractor has requested to be allowed to pave the final surface course at night.

The County intends to allow the contractor to perform this work during the nighttime hours, due to the overall high volume of traffic, the large proportion of truck traffic, and the challenges with maintaining efficient traffic flow through the project site during while construction activities are underway. Allowing the nighttime work will help ensure the highest quality pavement possible as well as minimize delays to the public and industry that commute via Lemont Road, especially through the I-55 interchange. The contractor is proposing to perform the night work between September 14 and 26. The County will provide advanced notification to the public via changeable message signs along Lemont Road beginning early next week.
