County officials convened this morning and at this time, the county-imposed burn ban has been lifted. Officials will continue to closely monitor drought conditions and fire risks moving forward.

Residents may notice increased smoke conditions across portions of McIntosh County today, particularly in the Eulonia area and along the Crescent/Smith Road corridor. We have already responded to several calls regarding the smoke.

At this time, the smoke appears to be residual drift from the ongoing fire activity in Brantley County, not a new local fire incident in McIntosh County.

County personnel are monitoring conditions and remain in communication with emergency response partners. We appreciate everyone who has called to report concerns and encourage residents to use caution if traveling in areas with reduced visibility.

If you observe an active fire or emergency situation, please continue to call 911 immediately.

A Burn Ban is in effect for all of McIntosh County until further notice.
