📚✨ Series Spotlight Challenge! ✨📚

Our 4th graders were on the move in the library today! They completed a Series Spotlight Challenge, exploring posters featuring different book series and deciding whether each series sparked their interest. 📖👀

Then, they browsed books similar to their chosen series and selected one book that really stood out to them! ❤️📚

We love seeing our students discover new books and find stories they’re excited to read! 🌟

Our 3rd grade mathematicians in Mrs. Moore's class are learning that math is even more meaningful when we work together! Students teamed up to create and use their own number paths, putting their problem-solving and number sense skills to work. Through collaboration, discussion, and hands-on exploration, our students are building mathematical thinking while learning from one another. We love seeing our young mathematicians think, share, and grow together!

We continue to experience AT&T phone issues at all of our buildings and schools in the Darlington area. Our phone service is also experiencing interruptions at Bay Road Elementary School and Lamar-Spaulding Elementary School. AT&T is on site working to resolve the issues this morning, and we hope service will be restored soon.

AT&T is working to resolve the situation now. In the meantime, if you need to contact the district office or schools in Darlington, please try to use email. We hope service is restored as soon as possible.

DCSD schools in the Darlington area as well as the District Administrative Offices are currently experiencing phone outages due to an issue with our service provider. The provider is aware, and we are awaiting information about when service will be restored. 📚🐅 National Book Lovers Day is Sunday, August 9! 🐅📚

This Sunday, we invite all of our J.L. Cain Tiger families to celebrate the joy of reading together!

Take some time to:
📖 Read together as a family for 20–30 minutes.
🗣️ Talk about your favorite characters and parts of the story.
✍️ Complete the fun writing challenge on the flyer.
📸 Share a photo of your child enjoying a good book in the comments below—we’d love to celebrate our amazing readers!

At J.L. Cain Elementary, we believe that every book helps our students grow as readers, thinkers, and lifelong learners.

Welcome back, everyone! Over the first few days of school Superintendent Dr. Matthew Ferguson along with members of the Darlington County Board of Education visited every school in the district. The group met with students, principals, teachers, school nutrition staff and custodians! The visits went great, and we are looking forward to an excellent school year.
