The following letter is being mailed out in the next few days. Cliff notes: Basically expired or unregistered vehicles that have not moved.
Dear Resident:
It has been brought to our attention you either have a property maintenance or public nuisance violation. This is a notice to inform you that you are currently in violation of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Darlington, Wisconsin for the following violation (s) that are marked.
_____ 13.08(3) No person shall accumulate, store or allow any disassembled, inoperable, junked or wrecked motor vehicle, truck body, tractor or trailer in the open upon any public or private property in the city for a period of time exceeding 10 days. There are some exceptions for autobody shops and mechanics in the business zoning not residential zoning.
_____ 13.08(2)(b) All motor vehicles, truck bodies, tractors or trailers must bear lawful current license plates or they are considered a public nuisance.
_____ 13.095(6)(b)3 No parking on any yard (Grass) or part of any lot in any zoning district, no person shall park or leave standing a vehicle on any surface other than a paved or gravel surface. Such paved or graveled surface shall cover the full width and length of said vehicle. Must apply for permit at City Hall for adding a surface to the grass. Exceptions: sporting events, parades, holiday celebrations, loading and unloading, which are temporary examples.
_____ 13.095(6)(b)4 In any zoning district, no person shall park or leave standing a vehicle on or within the area between a sidewalk and city street (Area commonly referred to as the “Terrace”)
Please be advised, that this is the only notice you will receive for any or all of the said violations or ordinances that are aforementioned. All future violations will result in citation issuance for the amount of $263.50 for each first offense violation and the penalty will be increased for subsequent violations.
In addition, the vehicle (s) could be towed at the owner’s expense. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation for keeping our City clean.
