Sauk-Suiattle Natural Resources The Sauk-Suiattle Indian people lived under the gaze of Whitehorse Mountain for many generations. In the early days, we were known as the Sah-ku-mehu.

We lived as hunters, gathers and fishermen in the region of Sauk Prairie.

SRSC Research and Recovery Program staff Amanda and Ian finishing up a beach seine set at Deepwater Restoration Area in fall of 2022. Parts of Deepwater slough was restored in 2000 and were immediately used by Chinook salmon and other fishes. SRSC is returning to Deepwater and other locations decades after restoration was completed to answer if these sites are improving over time.
