Westport Firefighter/Paramedics are currently working alongside Dartmouth Fire District 3 and Dartmouth EMS, at a very serious crash on Route 6 in the vicinity of the Dartmouth/Westport Town line.

Today has been another busy day, as Group 1 has answered 14 calls for service since 0800, including 4 motor vehicle crashes.

Today, we remember our brother, Alan King, on the anniversary of his Last Alarm.

Alan served the Dartmouth Fire District for more than 23 years. He was more than a firefighter—he was a friend, a coworker, and a brother who is still missed by many.

Although time has passed, his memory lives on in the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the bonds we continue to build within this job.

Gone, but never forgotten. Rest easy, Brother. We’ll take it from here.

The members of Local 5156 congratulate Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Cowell on his retirement after 36 years of service to the Town of Westport.

As neighboring departments, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside Matt over the years and wish him all the best in a long, healthy, and well-deserved retirement. Congratulations, Matt!

Firefighters Memorial Sunday is reserved as the second Sunday of June annually. This annual observance dedicated to honoring firefighters who have passed. Communities, fire departments, unions, and fire service organizations gather to remember the sacrifices made by these men and women and to recognize their commitment to protecting others.

The observance often includes memorial services, wreath-laying ceremonies, moments of silence, bell ceremonies, honor guards, and readings of the names of fallen firefighters. It is a time for the fire service and the public to reflect on the risks firefighters face every day and to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in service to their communities.

For firefighters and their families, Firefighters Memorial Sunday serves as both a remembrance of those lost and a reminder that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🚒🇺🇸
