Very nice program and the food from Berwick Manor was delicious. Thank you My Brothers Keeper and Saint Charles Preparatory School
FYLaw’s Executive Director, Douglas Althauser, represented the Center at the City of Columbus’s annual My Brothers Keeper Youth Conference, at the Africentric Early College. Dozens of students attended the conference to receive leadership training and set goals, and then attended a community resource fair, which included FYLaw’s table. Students and their parents stopped by to talk about juvenile law.

Erica and I enjoyed photographing the The Big Table event for The Columbus Foundation on Wednesday. We traveled all over town to many different conversations and heard much good, productive talk about how to make our city a better place to live and work. Thanks to the Columbus Foundation for sponsoring such a worthy event and asking us to be a apart of it. Special thanks to businesses and organizations that hosted the wonderful event! Some include Columbus Metropolitan Club, The Boat House Restaurant at Confluence Park, Hot Chicken Takeover, United Schools Network - USN, Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS), Columbus Metropolitan Library, Pizzuti Collection, ColumbusUnderground.com, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, American Red Cross of Central Ohio, My Brothers Keeper, Columbus Police Training Academy, Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority,
Sweet Carrot Grandview,
Yoga on High, Lextant, Starfish Alliance, Brioso Coffee, Columbus Museum of Art, Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services-ETSS, Martin de Porres Center, and BeecherHill! Whew! What a list!

This page and a custom Website (www.HeardNotJudged.com) are launching soon, to share MEE’s latest national, community-based participatory research, “Heard, Not Judged: Insights into the Talents, Realities and Needs of Young Men of Color.” This report and video series features the voices of 18 to 24 year-old African-American and Hispanic males from nine cities. They open up about their lives — the everyday challenges they face, their use of technology, who matters to them (and who doesn’t) and the need for access to jobs, education, mentoring and health care.

Check back for key insights and access to videos illustrating the findings from focus groups held in Philadelphia, Oakland, Los Angeles, Long Beach, New York City (Bronx), Baltimore, Atlanta, New Orleans and Detroit. The research was co-funded by The California Endowment and The Open Society Foundations.
