Last month, the Dartmouth EMA supported the Westport Fire department and regional fire departments during the Mid City Scrap Fire incident. EMA personnel provided refreshments and rehabilitation support for public safety personnel operating at the scene. As firefighting operations extended into the evening, Dartmouth EMA also assisted with scene lighting.

Additionally, Dartmouth EMA was pleased to host the Westport Emergency Management Special Services during our monthly drill night. Members had the opportunity to tour Westport EMA’s rehabilitation unit and learn about its capabilities. The visit provided valuable insight and an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and lessons learned between our organizations.

Last month, Dartmouth EMA, alongside other public safety agencies and town stakeholders, responded to Winter Storm Hernando, which swept through the Northeast and brought nearly 34 inches of snow to our area. Dartmouth EMA personnel staffed EMA headquarters beginning Sunday, February 22nd, and continued operations through Friday, February 27th.

Throughout the storm and subsequent recovery efforts, Dartmouth EMA responded to numerous incidents including road blockages, stranded motorists, downed power lines, and other support functions as requested by town partners. During operations, EMA requested additional assets to assist with snow removal and recovery efforts. The Hampden County Sheriff’s Department responded to this request and provided valuable support during the response.

Dartmouth EMA extends its sincere thanks to the Hampden County Sheriff's Dept for their assistance. We would also like to recognize and thank all Dartmouth EMA members for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism during this historic winter storm. Finally, Dartmouth EMA would like to thank all town stakeholders for their continued cooperation and support throughout the event..
