Darwin MN Twine Ball

Darwin MN Twine Ball Worlds Largest Ball of Twine made by 1 man. Constructed by Francis A. Johnson, it weighs 17,400 pounds and has a circumference of approximately 40 feet.

The ball is in a specially designed gazebo and is viewable 24-7. There is a museum/gift shop run by the Darwin Community Club behind the ball. The museum covers the history of both the ball of twine and the City of Darwin, MN. The museum has set hours in the summer but is always open by appointment. Souvenirs are also available at V’s Grill & Pub up the street.

Here's another reminder to anyone who's following us on Facebook, that we're open by volunteers, usually Thursday-Sunday, and other days by request. We don't have what you would call "normal" hours but we're not a normal roadside attraction, are we...
If you want to have the full experience (i.e. visit the museum as well as the ball) all you have to do is reach out on Facebook, a few days in advance if you can, and we will be there for you. This here's what small town America's all about!
