Did you know.... Today is Vote Early Day! It was founded by MTV as a new civic holiday focused on helping every voter know how, where, and when they can vote early.

We've had a steady turnout of voters at our office throughout the day for early voting! With only 5 days left to early vote, we encourage all eligible voters to take advantage of the opportunity and cast their ballots early to avoid the Election Day rush.

If you want to vote early, you can visit us at 600 West 4th Street, Davenport, Monday-Friday, 8am to 430pm. This Saturday, November 1st, we'll also be open from 9am-Noon. We'll be waiting for you!

This morning, we successfully loaded and delivered 1,501 absentee ballots to the United States Postal Service! Special Thanks to the Scott County Sheriff's Department for your help!

To be counted in this election, all domestic absentee ballots must be returned to our office before polls close on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025.

~As a reminder, Early Voting is open in our office daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm!~

Today marks the first day that absentee ballots are available to be sent out to Iowans for the November 4 City-School Election! This means that if you have already requested an absentee ballot, it can now be mailed to you, so be watching your mail in the coming days and weeks. Absentee ballots are available upon request. PRESS RELEASE - 2025 City School Election

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announces important dates for the City School Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. “Please make a plan to vote so your voice is heard,” said Tompkins.



How can I prepare for election day?

Pre-register to Vote Deadline, Monday, October 20 at 5:00 pm.

Pre-registering to vote means your name and address will appear in the voter records on Election Day. This will speed up processing time at the polls. Also, if you have moved and have not updated your voter registration please do so via online or in the office.



How can I have a ballot mailed to my home?

Absentee Ballot Request Deadline, Monday, October 20 at 5:00 pm.

Completed request forms are due in the Auditor’s Office by Monday, October 20, 2025 before 5:00 pm in order to receive a mailed ballot. Ballots will be mailed starting on Wednesday, October 15. The absentee ballot request forms are available for download from the Auditor’s webpage or the Auditor’s Office will mail forms to voters upon request, 563.326.8631.



Where can I vote in person before Election Day?

In-person early voting at the Auditor’s Office begins on Wednesday, October 15 and runs through Monday, November 3 and will be located at the Scott County Administration Building on the fifth floor. Voting will be available Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday, November 1, from 9:00 am to noon.



Satellite locations will also be available. Below is the list with dates and times:

-Bettendorf Public Library, 2950 Learning Campus Drive, Bettendorf

-Tuesday, October 21 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm

-Wednesday, October 22 from noon-6:00 pm

-The Summitt of Bettendorf, 4699 53rd Ave, Bettendorf, on October 22 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.



When are absentee ballots due and how can they be returned?

The deadline to receive absentee ballots is November 4 at 8:00 pm at the Auditor’s Office.

Ballots may be returned by mail, or hand delivered to the Auditor’s Office.



Absentee Ballot Drop-Box Available

A ballot drop box is available for voters to return their absentee ballots. The drop box is located at the Scott County Administrative Center on the west side of the parking lot. The box will be available starting on October 15, and will be open until Election Day, November 4 at 8:00 pm.

All county poll sites will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4. The full list is available on our website, along with “Where Do I Vote.”

2025 City of Davenport Primary Election

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announces there will be a Primary Election for the City of Davenport on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. “It is great to see so many candidates interested in our local government,” said Tompkins. There will be a primary election for aldermen in Wards 3, 5, 7, and citywide for the mayoral race.



-How can I prepare for election day?

NEWS RELEASE

Scott County Auditor Announces Deadlines for Absentee Ballot Requests for the Davenport City Primary Election, October 7 and City-School Election, November 4

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announced voters can submit requests for absentee ballots by mail for the Davenport City Primary Election on October 7 and the City School Election on November 4. “It is a unique time as both forms can be requested and turned in together,” said Tompkins. You must submit a request for an absentee ballot to receive a ballot via mail for each separate election. Ballots will begin to be mailed on September 17 for the Primary Election and October 15 for the City School Election.

The original completed absentee ballot request form is due in our office by 5:00 pm on Monday, September 22 for the Davenport City Primary Election and October 20 for the City School Election. It is necessary to have a separate completed form for each election.

Request forms are available in the office (M-F, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm), via download from the Auditor’s webpage, or the Auditor’s Office will mail forms to voters upon request, 563-326-8631. The request form link is below:

Candidate filing for all cities within Scott County (excluding Davenport) and all schools commences today and will continue until 5:00 PM on September 18, 2025.

Candidates are required to submit their filings with the respective City Clerk or School Secretary during regular business hours.

CITY OF DAVENPORT CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD BEGINS TODAY

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announced the filing period begins today to be on the ballot for the City of Davenport. “I encourage interested candidates to turn in their packets early and to review the resources available on our website,” said Tompkins. Davenport is the only city in Scott County that may have a primary election. The filing deadline for Davenport is 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 28.

The Candidate Guide is available via the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office for the City-School Election this fall and can be found at the website, https://sos.iowa.gov/city-elections.

Candidates must turn in their completed candidate packets to the designated filing clerks: the applicable School Secretary or City Clerk. The Auditor’s Office does not accept these packets. The Regular City-School Election filing period begins Monday, August 25 and ends at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 18.
