The Department handles over 94,000 calls for service annually and has an advanced computer dispatch system, integrated in-car computers and an enhanced 911 service, supported by an outstanding, professional and dedicated group of men and women. roud to state that the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) awarded the Davenport Police Department accreditation status in July, 2003 and has maintained subsequent accreditations to date. The national accreditation process included an examination of all aspects of the Department's policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. Please join us in congratulating Davenport PD’s newest recruits Cheryl Glider and Bennett Vanderheiden. They graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and have taken the first big step in their law enforcement careers.

They will officially be sworn in as police officers at an upcoming council meeting, where they’ll take their oath of office and begin the next phase of their training in the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program. Congratulations and welcome to the team!

As we head into the rescheduled Red White & Boom celebration tomorrow, our officers will be out and about to help keep everyone safe and make sure the event runs smoothly. We’re here for you, and we appreciate your cooperation as you navigate traffic routes and any temporary closures in the area.

Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Free parking will be available in any of the city’s three parking ramps from 5 p.m. to midnight on August 15.
