A teacher never really “retires” since their work lives on in the hearts of the students they met through the years.

Today, we celebrated the retirement of Ms. Sutton and Mrs. Holloman. Thank you for your dedication and service to so many Horizons students through the years.

Fun Fact: Ms. Sutton was one of the teachers who helped open Horizons its first year in 2008. Mrs. Holloman joined the fun just one year later in 2009.

Reminder: No Backpacks this week. Please remember to send all Hawks to school with the lanyard they went home with on Friday.

Lanyards are coming home tomorrow. PLEASE send them back each day next week for easy, safe dismissals.

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, no backpacks will be allowed at all PCPS school sites for the remainder of the current school year.

This applies to all PCPS school sites beginning Tuesday, May 26, through Thursday, May 28 — the last day of school.

Students may carry bags no larger than a small purse. Lunchboxes will still be permitted.

This is simply a precautionary measure. It is not uncommon for schools to implement such a security change during the final days of the school year, when it is no longer necessary for students to carry backpacks or large purses.

If you feel that your child needs accommodations regarding this change, please contact your school’s administration.
