Help Keep Our Streets and Streams Clean! When you mow, please keep grass clippings in your yard or dispose of them properly. It’s a small step that makes a big difference! Grass clippings that end up in the street can wash into storm drains, contribute to water pollution, or even cause localized street flooding.

Here are a few easy ways to help:
• Use a mulching mower to keep clippings (and valuable nutrients!) on your lawn.
• Bag your clippings.
• Adjust your mower to blow clippings back onto your property.
• Sweep or blow any clippings in the street back onto the grass.
• Pick up and properly dispose of clippings.

Barricades aren’t just obstacles — they’re there to keep you safe, protect construction crews, and safeguard the work being done.

Going around or moving barricades puts everyone at risk and can result in damage to the work zone, causing delays in construction.

Please remember, traffic control devices are in place for a reason — everyone’s safety!

Crews have been moving fast to get East Locust back open between Marlo and Pineacre. By 7 a.m. on Monday, June 15, drivers will be able to use one lane in each direction. If the weather cooperates, the whole road should be open again by Monday, June 22. Until then, crews will be finishing up work on pipes, a storm structure, backfilling, and paving.

Work is moving right along on the 4th St Resurfacing Project. Starting Friday, June 12, 4th St will be reduced to one lane between Fillmore and Pine Streets. To help keep the project on track for a fall completion, crews will continue work between Gaines and Brown, and drivers will see additional travel restrictions at the intersections north of 4th St from Fillmore to Pine.

During this phase, crews will mill the roadway surface, replace intersections, lay new asphalt, and complete ADA curb upgrades. Work will begin on the north side of the road and then shift to the south.

Stay weather aware today. The US National Weather Service Quad Cities Iowa/Illinois reports we have a good chance of seeing two more rounds of severe storms today. Both the morning and early evening storms could result in flash flooding, power outages, and downed trees. Here’s some things to keep in mind as we head into the day:
• Treat any intersection with dark or flashing traffic signals as a four-way stop.
• Flooding can happen fast, especially in low areas, near creeks, and at the bottom of hills. If you see water on the road, don’t try to drive through it - turn around.
• Check that your sump pump is working.
• Report power outages to MidAmerican Energy at 888 427 5632.
• Report trees down in the roadway to Public Works at 563 326 7923.
