On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at approximately 12:48 a.m., the Davenport Fire Department responded to a house in the 3800 hundred block of Johnson Ave. The 911 caller reported that the home is occupied by two adults, one child and two dogs.

Davenport Police Department officers were first to arrive at 12:55 a.m. and reported that the entire back half of the house was fully engulfed with fire. DPD helped an adult female get out the front door. The woman told the officer that there was still an adult male, a small child, and two dogs inside the house.

The first two Davenport Fire Department crews arrived at 12:56 a.m. One crew entered through the front door to search for victims , while the other crew extended hose lines to rear of house to begin attacking the fire. Fire crews quickly located and rescued the child. The woman and the child were both taken by ambulance to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Fire crews had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes.

One adult male victim and the two dogs were found deceased. Fire crews remained on scene for several hours ensuring the fire was out and began investigating the cause of the fire.

Davenport Fire Department crews were assisted by the Davenport Police Department, Medic EMS of Scott County, the Scott County Sheriff ’s Office and Mid American Energy.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Fire Marshal’s office at 563-326-7906.

On Monday, June 1st, 2026 at approximately 6:52 p.m. the Davenport Fire Department responded to the 3300 block of Covington Drive for a reported structure fire.

The first fire units arrived on scene at 6:58 p.m. and found a small, two-story home with smoke coming from the front door. Fire crews entered the home and found a fire in the kitchen area that was quickly extinguished. Three occupants of the home were outside when the fire department arrived but crews searched the residence, finding and removing a family dog. Resuscitation efforts were started on the family pet but were unsuccessful. Fire crews used fans to remove the smoke from the residence and remained on scene for about 90 minutes to confirm complete extinguishment and investigate to determine the cause of the fire.

The Davenport Fire Department was assisted by Mid-American Energy.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

🤝🚤 Meet BIG RED!

Thank you to everyone who participated in helping us choose a name for our new fire rescue boat. To celebrate the beginning of BIG RED's service, we will be holding a christening ceremony on Tuesday, June 9 at 4:00 P.M. at the Davenport Fire Department Boat House. On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 5:24 A.M., the Davenport Fire Department responded to the 1400 block of E. 39th Street for an apartment fire at the North Park Manor Apartments.

The first fire units on the way to the scene were told that an infant was hanging out of a window. Upon arrival, they learned a woman had jumped from the 3rd floor. A male victim was rescued from the 3rd floor. Both were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. While investigators are still gathering information, the baby was located safe at the hospital with the mother. Two additional victims were treated at the scene and refused transport to the hospital.

A victim was found deceased in an apartment. The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been determined.

The fire was contained to three apartment units, but all 13 units in the building had heavy smoke and water damage. Property management is working to find safe places for the displaced residents to live.

The Davenport Fire Department was assisted by Medic EMS of Scott County, Scott County Emergency Management, the American Red Cross, and the Bettendorf Fire Department.

Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
