Monday November 3rd marks the time of year for our Annual Fund Drive at the DCVFD. The members of the fire department and a few other guests will walk the streets going door to door from 6 - 8 tomorrow night.

While tax dollars go towards larger ex-penditures, your donations are used for more member based purchases.

Examples include training classes to improve our effectiveness and safety, and association membership fees that provide valuable insurance and other benefits to help with volunteer recruitment and retention.

You, as residents of David City and Rural Fire District #9, always come through and answer our call for assistance just as we do for you.

Thank you for your continued support.

If we miss you Monday night donations can be mailed to the address below or use the VENMO QR code in comments:

A big thanks to everyone who helped bring this fire to a stop yesterday. The fire traveled 5 miles reaching 3/4 mile wide.
It started near Road 25 between N and O roads and burned to 30 road between M and N roads. A lot of hard, and risky work was involved to keep this from going much further and saving farmsteads along the way. Multiple fire departments were on scene, businesses and farmers brought in water tankers, dozens of farmers rushed to the scene with disks, and many people and a few businesses donated food and snacks. Butler County Roads and Butler Public Power helped us take down trees for extinguishment. Most fire departments were on scene till early this morning and DCVFD has been monitoring and putting out flare ups all night and into this afternoon. We'll attempt a list of all those contributing to the effort. It was quite chaotic at times so I'm sure we'll miss a few that helped in one way or another.

Fire Departments:All butler county departments, Shelby, Mead, Platte Center, and Humphrey.

Businesses that helped in water shuttles:Tuls Dairies, Frontier COOP, Niemanns porta-pot, Randy Schawang and numerous farmers.

Food donations: So many folks dropped off food and snacks we couldn't keep track but appreciated all of them.

Again, thanks to all that helped out in anyway. This effort was a example of rural America doing what rural America does best.

We've already been called out to gas leaks due to heavy snow breaking off gas lines next to buildings. Please check and clean around the areas where gas comes into your homes and/or business. Check your furnace/water heater vents as well.
Thank you!

While we know the cold temps make it unpleasant out, we ask that if you have a hydrant near your home or business if you could please clear a couple of feet around it and a path to the street if possible. We will be going out tonight doing the same but if everyone could help out it would save us a lot of time.

Also please check you gas meter and any furnace outlets around your home to make sure they are free and clear of heavy snow that could break lines and block your heater exhaust vents.

Thank you!

Nebraska DOT is pulling all the trucks off the road in our area. That means stay home. If you get stuck you may be there for quite awhile.
