It is easy to feel overwhelmed with the lawlessness and violence we are seeing every day on social media from our current administration. Here are some actionable items to put our energy towards:

1. Download the app, enter your location, and follow any and all of their prompts to call our Davie County representatives and demand change. 5 Calls provides the phone number and a script for each call. It takes about 10mins total to call three representatives.

2. Attend our Democratic Congressional Candidates Forum next weekend, make sure you’re registered to vote by February 6th, and vote in EVERY local election this year! We have to elect candidates that will fuel the change and accountability we want to see.

3. Find local protests, volunteer opportunities, and continue to report ICE sightings around the state to the proper networks.

4. Put what you have been doing in the comments! Every amount of activism and joy creates resistance. We’re in this together.

Hispanic Heritage Month is about celebrating the people who have shaped North Carolina into the place we call home. Families who’ve built businesses, farmworkers who keep food on our tables, teachers who inspire kids every day, and artists who bring our culture to life — their impact is everywhere.

Unfortunately, Republican leaders in our state and across the country have taken actions that divide people and ignore these contributions. We know better. Democrats believe our state is stronger when we celebrate every community, honor hard work, and make sure everyone has a voice.

This month, we encourage you to celebrate Hispanic heritage by lifting up the stories, struggles, and successes that make North Carolina more vibrant, resilient, and united.

The NC GOP are leaving our state — and most importantly, our kids — scraping by while patting themselves on the back. That’s why we are dedicated to using the month of September to bring awareness to Leandro.

This year alone, kids are being sent home because their schools don’t have working heat in the winter or air conditioning in the hotter months. This isn’t some problem “over there” — it’s happening in the wealthiest counties and the poorest.

Leandro funding can change that. In just ONE school Leandro funding can provide:

20 more teaching assistants
31 more school support staff
More than double the funding for teaching materials
Professional development for teachers we already have
51 more preschool slots
209 more children in infant-toddler programs
362% increase in Smart Start programs

These three seats are the foundation for taking back the courts in 2028. Without them, the attacks keep coming. With them, we open the door to real change — fair voting maps, fair elections, and courts that actually protect your voice instead of silencing it.

Justice is on the ballot — and so are these Democrats:

Justice Anita Earls — 30+ years fighting for civil rights, voting rights, and fairness in schools and workplaces. From founding the Southern Coalition for Social Justice to shaping policy at UNC and the DOJ, she’s never stopped standing up for us.

Judge Toby Hampson — a product of NC public schools who’s spent his career making sure the law actually works for everyone. Since 2018, he’s been on the Court of Appeals, serving with fairness and mentoring future leaders.

Judge John Arrowood — someone who’s lived real challenges and turned them into a lifetime of service. From Superior Court to the Court of Appeals, he’s fought to keep our courts strong, fair, and rooted in community.
This isn’t just about winning elections. It’s about protecting our democracy, holding the line now, and setting the stage to restore justice to our courts in 2028.
