Flamingo Gardens

Flamingo Gardens Established in 1927, Flamingo Gardens is one of the oldest botanical gardens in South Florida.
(2118)

Spend the day in this 60 acre botanical garden and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary, with rescued native wildlife, some of South Florida's oldest and last remaining jungle forest, the Wray Home Museum, and 22 FL Champion Trees- the largest of their species. The 60-acre not-for-profit botanical garden contains over 3,000 tropical and sub-tropical species of plants and trees and its Everglades Wildlife

Sanctuary is home to the largest collection of Florida native wildlife in the state. With some of the last natural jungle growth in South Florida, the Wray Botanical Collection at Flamingo Gardens includes 21 of the largest trees of their species and a unique hammock of 200-year-old Live Oak trees. The Historic Wray Home has been restored and is now a museum which provides a glimpse of life in the 1930s. The Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary gives residence to permanently injured and non-releasable wildlife and is home to 83 species of Florida native birds and animals including alligators, panthers, bobcats, otters, eagles, peacocks, and of course flamingos. The half-acre Free-flight Aviary boasts over 250 birds representing 45 species. In the last 20 years birds in the Aviary have produced over 2,000 offspring which have been released into the wild.

🦋

Butterflies are more than beautiful—they're important indicators of environmental health. As climate change alters temperatures, weather patterns, and habitats, many butterfly populations are declining worldwide.

Want to learn more about these amazing pollinators and how we can help protect them? Visit Amazing Butterflies in the Flamingo Gardens Gallery starting this weekend, June 6, where you'll experience the incredible journey from caterpillar to butterfly through interactive exhibits.

🦋 What can you do? Plant native flowers, reduce pesticide use, and support pollinator-friendly habitats.

Bentley and Treena have already made themselves at home behind-the-scenes at Flamingo Gardens, exploring their habitat, splashing in the pond, and growing more comfortable each day.

Caring for two growing bear cubs takes ongoing support, and we’re so grateful to those who have already generously given to our “Bear Necessities” campaign. Every gift, no matter the size, helps provide nutrition, veterinary care, enrichment, and habitat improvements while keeping these curious cubs healthy, active, and thriving.

Help support Bentley and Treena’s care and make a difference with your gift today. https://flamingogardens.org/donate-bears

Beginning June 6, guests can visit Bentley and Treena and follow their journey at Flamingo Gardens.

🐻 Bentley and Treena are settling in beautifully!

From exploring their habitat to cooling off in the pool, these orphaned black bear cubs are becoming more comfortable and confident every day. This is just as we hoped!

Beginning June 6, guests can visit Bentley and Treena and follow their journey at Flamingo Gardens.

But now we need your help! We're raising $10,000 to help cover their transport to Flamingo Gardens and immediate care—including nutrition, veterinary care, enrichment, and habitat enhancements—with an additional $10,000 stretch goal to support their lifelong care.

Every gift makes a difference. ❤️
