August 31st is recognized worldwide as International Overdose Awareness Day. It is a day to remember those we have lost, support families and loved ones impacted, and raise awareness about the ongoing crisis in our communities. The day also serves as a reminder that overdose is preventable and that through awareness, education, and compassion, we can make a difference.

This year, the Town formally issued a proclamation recognizing August 31st as Overdose Awareness Day, reinforcing our commitment to prevention and support for our community.

In recognition of this important day, non-uniformed Town employees were invited to wear purple last Thursday, joining together to raise awareness and show support for those impacted by overdose. 💜
