Due to an increased fire risk, the NC Forest Service has issued a burning ban for 18 counties to include Carteret County.

The burning ban takes effect Thursday May 30th at 5 pm until further notice.

All burning permits are canceled until further notice.

All burning is suspended, to include burning within 100 feet of a residence.

Violating the burning ban incurs a $100 fine to include $180 court cost.

The Salvation Army will continue to provide hot meals at the fire department, daily at 12 and 5:30. They will serve as long as there is a need.

Please let us know if anyone in need isn’t able to come to the Fire Department. We’ll do our best to get food and water to them.

Cases of water are available now. We’ve asked for cleaning supplies.
