⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Michigan Department of State Text Scam ⚠️
Attention Michigan residents! We have received reports of a phishing scam targeting our community via text message.

The Scam: Fake "MDOS" Citations
Scammers are sending text messages that appear to be from the Michigan Department of State (MDOS). The message claims you have an unpaid citation or fine and warns that you could face serious legal trouble or driver's license suspension if you don't pay immediately.

The Red Flags 🚩
The Threat: They use "scare tactics" to make you panic and pay without thinking.

The Link: The text includes a link to a website designed to look like an official state portal to steal your credit card or personal information.

The Delivery: The Michigan Department of State does not send text messages to notify you of citations or demand immediate payment for fines. Official correspondence regarding these matters is sent through the U.S. Mail.

What You Should Do πŸ›‘οΈ
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK: Clicking the link could install malware on your phone or lead you to a fraudulent site.

DELETE THE MESSAGE: Do not reply to the text. Replying confirms your number is active, which can lead to more scam attempts.

VERIFY OFFICIALLY: If you are concerned about a real citation, visit the official Michigan.gov/SOS website directly or call their verified customer service line.

Please share this with your Michigan friends and family! Scammers count on people being caught off guardβ€”let's make sure our neighbors know what to look for.
