It is with Great Sadness that we share this news. Ray will be greatly missed.

It's with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our life long members, Ray Rogers(3722). He has been a member of the Dawson Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. Ray served many different capacities in the department including Assistant Chief. Ray has touched countless lives, through the fire department and the community. Ray never knew a stranger. He never had anything negative to say about anyone. Ray was such an asset to the community. He will definitely be sorely missed by us and the community. Please keep his family in your prayers throughout this difficult time.

2024 Dawson School Homecoming Recap! 🎉
What an incredible weekend it was! The 2024 Dawson School Homecoming brought together ex-DISD alumni from all over the United States, with many from the Dawson area. The highlight for many was the Dawson DESA Golf Tournament at the beautiful OAKS Golf Course in Corsicana. The camaraderie and friendships formed last Friday will be cherished for years to come.
Another unforgettable moment was the Dawson Bulldogs commanding 19 to 2 victory over Bosqueville in the football game. The energy and excitement in the air were palpable as the Bulldogs showcased their skills on the field.
Saturday morning’s DESA business meeting, although missing a few familiar faces, was filled with rewarding fellowship. Attendees shared great memories of Mr. Kimbrogh’s History classes and Mr. Phillips’ Math classes, reminiscing about the good old days. Mr. Waller’s BBQ was, as usual, was the best in the county.
Thank you to everyone who made this homecoming so special. Here’s to the friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!

I’d like to highlight our classmate James Prater’s recent Facebook post about our annual HOMECOMING event and golf tournament. Jamie passionately encourages anyone connected to Dawson ISD—whether you attended school there, had children in the system, or lived in the area—to support the Dawson Ex-student’s Association (DESA). Joining DESA not only benefits the community but also helps our ISD and its deserving students. Plus, it’s a way to reconnect with old schoolmates.

In response to Jamie’s post, someone mentioned our gray-haired participants. While it’s true that we have many experienced members, we also want younger generations to be part of this fantastic organization. DESA actively supports our community and our Dawson ISD. For instance, we offer six $1500 scholarships to deserving Dawson graduates—at an annual contribution of $9000. Encourage ex-Dawson students and their relatives to join the association; it’s a vital way to maintain our community spirit.

This is a good article for anyone with a GenZ child ( Born 1997-2012) to read and share with their children.

There is definitely a problem we all need to overcome and this article does give some good tips for them, families and people in the workplace. It is one of those articles that advances through the arrow next to the picture.
