🚨 Sound the Alarm – Save a Life 🚨

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Dawson County Emergency Services will be partnering with the American Red Cross for our annual Sound the Alarm event.

Our volunteers will be working in the Kelly Bridge Road area, going door-to-door to help make homes safer. During this event, we will:

✅ Check existing smoke alarms
✅ Install new smoke alarms if needed
✅ Replace non-working smoke alarms
✅ Provide fire safety education for residents

The best part? There is no cost to the homeowner.

Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire nearly in half, and our goal is to help ensure every family has the protection they need.

If you see our teams in your neighborhood, please take a few minutes to speak with us. A simple smoke alarm can make all the difference when seconds count.

For more information or to schedule a smoke alarm installation, call 706-344-3500 ext. 44520.

This week, DCES had the honor of recognizing 13 Firefighter EMT/Paramedics for their exceptional response to a serious single-car motor vehicle collision that occurred in October.

During this incident, crews provided a rapid response, expert extrication, and lifesaving emergency medical interventions for a critically injured patient. Thanks to the dedication, training, and teamwork of our personnel, that patient survived and has had an excellent outcome.

This incident is a powerful reminder of why we train, why we prepare, and why advanced emergency care matters. DCES is proud to operate with advanced protocols and strong partnerships, including our collaboration with Northeast Georgia Medical Center, which allows us to carry plasma on our ambulances and bring hospital-level care directly to patients when every second counts.

We are incredibly proud of the 13 members recognized and grateful for their commitment to serving our community.
