Join us for an evening of dinner, community, and support. Children will eat dinner in small groups and parents/caregivers will meet to share a meal, encouragement, and connection, while the children enjoy this month's theme. We will have a fall festival/movie night for the kids. This event is offered to you free of charge by Dawson County Family Connection and The Way Home.

✨McKinney-Vento: Did You Know?✨

The McKinney‑Vento Program is here to support students who may be experiencing housing instability — including those staying in shelters, motels, cars, campgrounds, or temporarily doubled‑up with others.

This program makes sure students have what they need to stay connected to school and keep learning, no matter what challenges they’re facing. Here are some of the ways it helps:

• Immediate Enrollment — Students can start school right away, even without documents.
• School Stability — They can stay in their school of origin to keep routines and relationships intact.
• Transportation Support — Help getting to and from school when distance is a barrier.
• Free School Meals — Automatic access to breakfast and lunch.
• Supplies & Basic Needs — Backpacks, clothing, hygiene items, and more when needed.
• Academic Support — Tutoring, counseling, and help accessing activities and programs.
• Connections to Community Resources — Links to housing, healthcare, food programs, and other support services.

Every child deserves stability, dignity, and the chance to thrive. 💛

Event Update: Poverty Simulation Cancelled

The Poverty Simulation originally scheduled for November 12, 2026, at Rock Creek Park has been cancelled.

We appreciate the community partners, volunteers, and participants who expressed interest in this educational opportunity. Thank you for your willingness to support efforts that build understanding of the challenges individuals and families may face when navigating limited resources.

We are grateful for our community's continued commitment to supporting children and families in Dawson County.
