You probably know how to restart your phone, reboot your computer, and troubleshoot your Wi-Fi… but do you know how to help restart a heart?

Learning CPR takes a little time and can make a huge difference when every second counts.
This week, consider taking a CPR class, refreshing your skills, or sharing this message. Someone’s worst day could depend on someone else stepping up.

The Washington Township Fire Department offers CPR classes for members of the public and can also provide private classes for businesses, community groups, and organizations looking to train their teams.

Because when cardiac arrest happens, the actions taken before first responders arrive can make all the difference.

Be aware of prescribed fires going on at Bill Yeck Park on Wednesday 3/24 🔥🌿🔥🌿🔥🌿.

We're conducting a prescribed burn at Bill Yeck Park tomorrow (Wednesday, March 25) beginning at 10 a.m. If you see smoke coming from the area, don't be alarmed! The park will remain open, but be prepared for temporary detours or closures if you plan to visit.

Prescribed burns help control invasive plant species, promote native prairie grasses and wildflowers, and improve nesting habitat for wildlife.

Great job, Parker! She learned how to call 911 at Safetyville Square, and that lesson helped her take the right action during an emergency.

Heroes come in all ages, and today, the Washington Township Fire Department was Proud to Celebrate 9-year-old Parker with a Lifesaving Award!

Last month, Washington Township resident Craig Chabut had a medical emergency that left his truck partially submerged in a retention pond. Parker stayed calm, called 911, and kept herself and her younger brother safe until first responders arrived.

That's real courage. We're so proud of Parker and relieved everyone is doing well!

Brave Bags🖤

What is a Brave Bag? Brave Bags help build bridges in moments of crisis by providing first responders and individuals with disabilities tools that can improve communication, reduce distress and support a safer outcome. The Brave Bags we carry include sensory and communication tools to help reduce escalation and are designed for use during emergency interactions. A special thank you to Delaney Bonfield for all her help in getting our department set up with this wonderful tool!

We recently shared information about AEDs placed in public spaces throughout our community and how they can help save a life in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. But did you know, you can help us? Our department uses the Pulse Point app to track AED locations in our community so lifesaving devices can be found fast when seconds count. Quick access to an AED can make all the difference before first responders arrive.

Do you have a business that has an AED on site? Help us help others by registering your AED device today!

🚑 Medic Monday 🚑

Did you know our department carries pet oxygen masks on our apparatus to provide emergency oxygen to animals affected by smoke inhalation or respiratory distress?

These specially designed masks allow responders to safely administer oxygen to pets during emergencies, including structure fires, and other incidents involving animals. The masks come in three different sizes to help accommodate pets of all sizes. Our personnel is trained in the proper use of this equipment to ensure pets receive care while maintaining responder safety. Having this equipment on hand helps us support every member of the household during a difficult situation🖤🐾

January 2026 Snapshot - A total of 993 calls for service🚒🚑

Our department responds to a wide variety of calls to the community on a daily basis.

Of the total number of calls received for January, 54 were classified as Good Intent Calls.

🚨What is a Good Intent Call?
A Good Intent Call occurs when emergency services are requested in good faith but upon arrival it's determined that no emergency exists. These calls are made with the right intentions, and we're always glad when community members choose to call rather than hesitate.
