The Dayton PD will use a common sense approach to law enforcement. Laws are created to keep us safe. Officers must use discretion when applying those laws by assessing every situation based on its own particular circumstance. There are times when arrests are necessary and required. There are also times when an arrest is not the best course of action. will attempt to gain compliance with local ordinances through education and awareness prior to official action. All residents will be treated fairly and with respect.

Drivers: be alert for children walking to schools and bus stops as they return to school. Parents dropping children off in a vehicle are strongly encouraged to use the drop off line which forms at the school entrance on Conjunction St. The line then extends north on Conjunction St. in the south bound lane only. The north bound lane is to remain open. This is the safest option, but if you choose to avoid this procedure then find a legal parking space to let your child out. Don’t stop in the roadway, at intersections, or in front of the fire department’s equipment bays to drop your child off.

Fireworks info:

Consumer fireworks can be set off on the following days.
June 29 through July 9th between 5:00 and 11:30 PM. On July 4th they can be set off from 10:00 AM to 12:00 midnight.

Fireworks may not be set off on streets and sidewalks. You are responsible for any damage caused by your display AND CLEAN UP.

Be considerate of neighbors. You are responsible for containing your fireworks (and where they land) to your property or where you have permission to be.

The Town of Dayton does not have any designated areas for setting off consumer fireworks.

Always supervise children around fireworks!
