Congratulations!!!

Today, we recognize Officer Jeff Dunscomb for an incredible 35 years of service to the West Lafayette Police Department.

Officer Dunscomb was hired on April 20, 1991, and in the decades since, he has served our community in nearly every capacity imaginable.

A West Lafayette native, Jeff has dedicated his career to making a lasting impact in the community that raised him. Over 35 years, he has served as a member and commander of the Special Response Team, spent several years assigned to the Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force, and worked with the multi-agency Highway Interdiction Team to stop the flow of illegal drugs on our roadways.

He rose to the rank of Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Division before eventually returning to patrol. Along the way, he became WLPD’s first K9 handler, working with three different police dogs throughout his K9 career.

But beyond the titles and assignments, Officer Dunscomb is revered by his fellow officers for something even greater: his ability to communicate with anyone, in almost any situation. He is a “cop’s cop” through and through—respected, trusted, and always willing to help.

Thirty-five years is an extraordinary milestone. Thank you, Jeff, for your leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to West Lafayette.

And the best part? He’s still going.
