𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆: 𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱

The City of Dayton Department of Public Works, with the help of “Shine a Light” grant funding from Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson, will oversee the clean-up of six lots along the 3000 and 3100 blocks of Delphos Avenue in Westwood. The properties (some commercial) have repeatedly experienced illegal dumping of materials including construction/demolition debris, tires, vehicles, auto parts, and containers. The clean-up will also remove overgrown vegetation and small debris in the top soil layer. The lots have long been a source of blight in Westwood, which is undergoing a community-powered renewal. The new funding represents Dayton’s second successful Shine a Light application.

Wow, what a wet August! After the month's record rains, you might be wondering where all that water goes. In Dayton, rain runoff flows through the municipal storm water system into area waterways. But litter and debris around storm drains can go with the flow, ending up in rivers and streams.

That's where the Adopt-A-Drain program shows up and says "Not so fast, litter." All it takes is a broom and a few minutes for a volunteer to stop the bad stuff from taking a ride to the river. Dayton residents, businesses and organizations can get with the program.

This morning, Mayor Shenise Turner-Sloss, Commissioner Matt Joseph, members of the Dayton City Commission and others discussed the Commission’s recently adopted resolution addressing access to healthcare, food assistance, and other essential services for Dayton residents.

The City of Dayton Sustainability i‑Team, Mayor Shenise Turner-Slosses’ Office, and Learn to Earn Dayton have launched the Youth Climate Innovation Challenge! 🎉

This mini‑grant program supports local youth ages 15–24, who reside or attend school within the City of Dayton with big ideas for improving our community.

Applications close Friday, October 2.

Project support workshops:
• September 1 at City Hall (4:30–6:30 PM)
• September 12 virtually, online (12:30–2:30 PM)
