Heat Advisory for Dayton Residents

With heat index values expected to reach 100°F today, residents are encouraged to take precautions to stay safe and cool.

The City of Dayton's recreation centers are available as cooling centers, and splash pads throughout the city are open daily from noon to 8 p.m. Stay hydrated, limit time in the sun, check on neighbors, and make sure pets have plenty of water and shelter.

ICYMI: Mayor Shenise Turner-Sloss announced the launch of her “Flight Plan,” a strategic roadmap designed to guide the city of Dayton toward stronger neighborhoods, safer communities, and a more responsive City Hall.

“Dayton deserves a government that listens, responds, and delivers results,” said Mayor Turner-Sloss. “This Flight Plan is about creating a clear path forward for Dayton, one that puts residents first, addresses the root causes of challenges we face, and builds new opportunities for every Daytonian. This is the beginning of a new day in Dayton.”

The City of Dayton has launched the AdaptDayton initiative, an evaluation of zoning/land use codes, which guide essential aspects of daily life including housing density, parking regulations, and building/development regulations. Your input is wanted. Anyone who lives, works, studies or recreates in Dayton is invited to learn more and share ideas at an open house hosted by the Division of Planning. Join us at any of these upcoming events (5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. each):

June 11: Main Dayton Metro Library, 215 E. Third St.
June 18: Dayton Metro Library West Branch, 300 Abbey Ave.
June 25: Dayton Metro Library Southeast Branch, 21 Watervliet Ave.
