Four years ago today, on March 12, 2022, the life of 18 year old Naomi Irion was tragically taken in a senseless crime. While Naomi is no longer with us, she is not forgotten. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office continues to keep Naomi’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers as we remember her and honor her memory.

RIP Deputy Redmond. We have the watch from here.

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office has to share that one of our valued members, Deputy Tristan Redmond has passed away. After being involved in an off-duty motorcycle crash on May 2, 2025, he was flown to Renown Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. After fighting for his life, Deputy Redmond succumbed to his injuries on May 13, 2025, with his wife and family by his side. Deputy Redmond selflessly served the citizens of Churchill County for the past 4 years, was a Field Training Officer (FTO), and was the secretary of the Churchill County Sheriff’s Deputies Association. Deputy Redmond is described by his law enforcement family as hard-working, dedicated to law enforcement, and served his community with integrity, vigilance, and persistence. Deputy Redmond’s passing has left an unimaginable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Please send prayers to this young man’s family, friends, and coworkers. This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are deeply saddened by this tragic event.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue K9 Dax has received donation of body armor

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, NV, K9 Dax has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Dax’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Kathy”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and NIJ certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 5,918 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.
