October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Montgomery County’s Administration Building is glowing purple in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month to show our support for survivors and raise awareness about domestic violence.

More than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men in the U.S. will experience sexual violence, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime, according to The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS).

This movement is an opportunity for education and advocacy to prevent and respond to violence.

Today is the U.S. Navy’s 251st birthday!

The U.S. Navy's origins go back to Oct. 13, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the purchase and arming of two vessels to cruise against British transports.

Since its inception, disbandment and reestablishment under the Naval Act of 1794, the Navy has sailed the globe in defense of freedom.

Thank you to all of those who have served or are currently serving with the U.S. Navy!

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day!

It is a day to celebrate and honor the rich contributions, culture, history and traditions of Native American peoples from the past and present.

Most Montgomery County offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, with the following exceptions:

▪️ The Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Station will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
▪️ The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lost and found pet searches only

Shoutout Sunday: Celebrating the People Who Keep JFS Moving!

As the seasons change, the JFS Staff Fall Fest gave employees a chance to step away from the daily routine, enjoy some fun and connect with coworkers from across the agency.

Staff enjoyed food, games, activities and time together to strengthen connections and celebrate the team behind the services our community relies on.

We'd like to give a special thank you to the Fall Fest Committee for putting together such a great event and to all JFS staff for the hard work, dedication and service you provide our residents throughout the year!

🚧 A sign of what’s to come!

Montgomery County, Harrison Township, and state and local partners gathered today to unveil a temporary sign at the future site of the new $40 million Job and Training Center in Forest Park.

It’s a small milestone, but a big step forward as the county moves from securing the 40-acre property into design and planning for a new center that will connect residents with jobs, training and resources.

After more than a decade sitting vacant, this site is getting ready for its next chapter. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027.

We had an amazing time connecting with students at the Dayton Public Schools Career Expo! 🙌

Now an annual event, the expo gives students the opportunity to explore a wide range of career fields represented across Montgomery County departments, meet county professionals and learn about career pathways in our community.
