Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety "Life is Better Here" The program has won wide support because it saves the City an estimated $100,000. a year while providing prompt emergency assistance.

In 1991, Daytona Beach Shores became the first community in Volusia County to adopt a Public Safety program by merging the police and fire departments. Residents receive a response to an emergency call in an average of little more than 2 minutes. To maintain that level of service, officers regularly undergo training to be certified for police, fire and emergency medical duties. The City currently has 35 sworn officers with 7 paramedics on staff.

25 years ago today, America changed forever.

We remember the 2,977 lives taken on September 11, 2001. We remember the firefighters, police officers and first responders who ran toward danger while everyone else was trying to escape. We remember the heroes aboard Flight 93. And we remember the thousands who answered the call to serve in the years that followed.

But we also remember what America looked like in the days after 9/11.

Flags flew from front porches. Strangers helped strangers. Communities came together. For a moment, we were simply Americans.

A quarter-century has passed, but some things should never fade.
Remember the lives lost. Honor the heroes. Never forget. 🇺🇸

A proud night for the Shores! 💙

Public Safety Officer Peyton Carmin was recognized as a nominee for Law Enforcement Officer of the Year at Crime Stoppers’ 26th Annual Awards Banquet.

Mayor Nancy Miller joined City Manager Michael Fowler, Public Safety Director Mark Swanson and members of our Public Safety Command Staff in celebrating Officer Carmin and supporting him at tonight’s banquet.

A triple-certified police officer, firefighter and EMT, Officer Carmin represents the dedication, professionalism and heart of our Public Safety team.

Today was a special day for the City of Daytona Beach Shores as we proudly welcomed three new members to our Public Safety family! 🚓🚒🚑

Please join us in congratulating Public Safety Officer Matthew Eby, Public Safety Officer Marlee Jamison and Public Safety Officer Sean O’Brien, who officially took their oaths surrounded by family, friends, colleagues and members of our community.

During the ceremony, we heard welcoming remarks from Mayor Nancy Miller, City Manager Michael Fowler, Public Safety Director Mark Swanson and resident Chuck Horion. Thank you as well to Commissioner and Mayor-Elect Dembinsky and Commissioner Mark Card for joining us in celebrating this important milestone.

🏁🐾 Hunter had a pretty special day at the Speedway! 🐾🏁

Our Health & Wellness Coach, Mandy Nice, and Public Safety Officer Whitney Egan took Hunter up to Daytona International Speedway to join the fan meet-and-greet on Pit Lane and get to see our buddy, NASCAR driver Austin Hill! 🏎️

A huge thank you to RCR for inviting us and for always being so welcoming to our Public Safety team. We’re proud to cheer on Austin and the entire RCR team!

We’re also incredibly grateful to K9s For Warriors for bringing Hunter into our Public Safety family. We’re so proud to have him as part of our team and to see him representing the incredible mission of K9s For Warriors wherever he goes. 🐾💙

Hunter is more than our station dog—he is an important part of the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety family and our health and wellness program. Whether he’s supporting our officers, visiting local students or connecting with members of our community, Hunter has a special way of bringing comfort, joy and a few much-needed smiles wherever he goes.

We were honored to welcome RCR, K9s For Warriors, and NASCAR driver Austin Hill today! 🚔🚒

We had the chance to host a special meet-and-greet with Hunter, our station dog, and let’s just say… Hunter was pretty excited to have some new friends stop by! 🐾

We’re incredibly grateful to RCR, K9s For Warriors, and Austin for spending time with our team and helping shine a light on the incredible work being done to support our nation’s veterans. 🇺🇸🐾
