While other city facilities may be closed for Labor Day, you can still make a splash at Cypress Aquatic Center! The pool, at 981 George W. Engram Blvd., will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7.

Cool off in the zero-depth entry area, take a ride down the curving water slide or enjoy one of six swimming lanes and waterplay features. Certified lifeguards are on duty.

Daily admission is $3 for adults and $2 for youth ages 17 and younger. A photo ID is required for pool access.

Cypress Aquatic Center also will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, and closed Sunday.

Daytona State College's theatre program is looking for dancers, singers and actors for its upcoming season! Auditions are open to the community and will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 1, at the News-Journal Center. Daytona State College Theatre will hold auditions for productions in its 2026-27 season, and tryouts are open to all members of the community.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, September 1, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Dance Studio at Daytona State’s News-Journal Center.

Those participating should prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song and be prepared to dance. Please bring recorded accompaniment; a Bluetooth speaker will be provided.

Looking for a fun and engaging place for your child after the school day ends? Registration is still open for the After School Program at Schnebly Recreation Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave., and students in grades K-5 from any elementary school are welcome to join!

The program runs Monday through Friday from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m. and gives students a place to learn, play and spend time with friends after school. Transportation through Volusia County Schools is available from Beachside Elementary only. Students attending other elementary schools are still welcome to register, but families will need to arrange transportation to Schnebly Recreation Center.

Join certified group instructor Dianna Fornaro for a free trial Pilates class from 11:15 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 26. With more than 15 years of experience teaching Pilates to adults and seniors, Fornaro will introduce participants to the basics while helping build strength, improve balance and move with confidence.

All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Participants should bring a yoga mat and water bottle and wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercise.
