The Daytona Beach Fire Department would like to thank the nearly 400 residents, neighboring public safety departments, and community members for joining us as we ushered in a new era and cut the ribbon at our new Station 1 Headquarters this morning. In true fire department fashion, we didnโ€™t just โ€œcut a ribbonโ€ firefighters and commissioners used extrication tools to cut a sheet metal ribbon.

The new state-of-the-art facility replaces the historic Fire Station No. 1 at 301 S. Beach Street, which has served the community since 1925. Marking the end of an era, the final alarm sounded at the 101-year-old station at 2 p.m., officially placing it out of service and signaling the transition of personnel and equipment to the new headquarters.

We sincerely thank our community for all their continued support!

Today at Sun Splash Beach Park the Daytona Beach Fire Department, Daytona Beach Professional Firefighters Local 1162, and the Daytona Beach Police Department teamed up for an incredible event โ€” Surf with a First Responder!

Kids kicked off the day with surf lessons and important water safety tips, then hit the water to catch some waves with our dedicated firefighters.

A big thanks to everyone who made this day fun, safe, and memorable for our young community members!

This morning DBFD Firefighters and County of Volusia EMS paramedics were recognized by AdventHealth Daytona Beach for their rapid response, treatment and coordination during a cardiac arrest that ended up saving a life.

Crews responded to a cardiac arrest call at a local shopping center after an individual collapsed. Bystanders immediately started CPR on the person until responders arrived. When crews arrived, they took over CPR and delivered two defibrillations in the field and the individualโ€™s heart was able to beat again. The patient was transported to AdventHealth where patient care was transferred to the hospital care team. The patient has since been discharged from the hospital and is doing well.

โ€œThe combined efforts of community members, Daytona Beach Fire Department, Volusia County EMS, and the hospital team were instrumental in saving the patientโ€™s life and supporting his recovery,โ€ stated AdventHealth Officials.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Paramedic Garrett, Firefighter EMT Harding, Firefighter Paramedic Swanson, and VCEMS Lt. Wheeler (other members not pictured Firefighter Paramedic Goldys, retired Firefighter EMT Will and VCEMS EMT Doyle) for their exceptional work in emergency medical services!

Your Daytona Beach Fire Department participated in a large-scale, multi-agency active assailant training at the Ocean Center. The exercise reinforced emergency preparedness and strengthened partnerships when responding to complex, high-pressure situations.

This detailed training simulation allowed responders to practice tactics, rescue task force deployment, triage, and patient care in a fast-paced environment designed to mirror real world conditions.

Weโ€™d like to thank the Ocean Center for hosting the training and Volusia County Emergency Management Division for coordinating it.

Training like this is critical to maintaining readiness for complex emergencies and reinforces our commitment to protecting the Daytona Beach community through preparation, teamwork, and decisive action.
