Members of the Daytona Beach Fire Department were proud to participate in the inaugural Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) Games!

Last night, firefighters, joined by Interim Fire Chief Chris Hughes, proudly accepted their awards alongside EANGUS members and event officials. The competition showcased strength, teamwork, determination, and camaraderie, and we are honored to have been part of such a memorable event.

A special thank you to EANGUS for the opportunity to participate. We truly appreciate your hospitality and are grateful you chose the City of Daytona Beach to host your 2026 Conference and inaugural EANGUS Games. Congratulations to everyone who competed!

The Daytona Beach Fire Department would like to thank the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) for an incredible morning at the inaugural EANGUS Games!

Every team brought their best, showcasing impressive strength, agility, determination, and teamwork throughout the competition. It was an honor to be part of such an exciting event.

Come out and support your Daytona Beach Firefighters as they go head-to-head with the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) in the inaugural National Guard EANGUS Games! The games will take place at 7AM tomorrow behind the Hilton on Daytona Beach, spectators are encouraged to watch from the boardwalk.

Today, the Daytona Beach Fire Department was proud to welcome Mr. & Ms. Mentoring Program to Fire Station 1 Headquarters for a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to serve our community.

During their visit, participants toured the station, learned about the daily responsibilities of our firefighters, and gained insight into the many career opportunities within the fire service. Interim Fire Chief Chris Hughes and Deputy Fire Chief Jessica Matthews shared their personal journeys, discussing what inspired them to pursue careers in the fire service, the challenges they overcame, and the leadership experiences that helped shape their careers.

We hope today's visit inspired the next generation of leaders to dream big, serve their communities, and explore the many rewarding opportunities the fire service has to offer. Thank you, Mr. and Ms. Mentoring, for spending time with us—we enjoyed having you!

Today at Daytona Lagoon, the Daytona Beach Fire Department, Daytona Beach Professional Firefighters Local 1162, and the Volusia Sheriff's Office teamed up for Swim with a First Responder hosted by No Longer Fatherless !

Kids started the morning with swim lessons while learning valuable water safety tips from our firefighters and sheriff's deputies. They then headed over to Engine 3, where they learned important fire safety lessons and got an up-close look at the fire engine.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the morning educational, exciting, and unforgettable for our young community members!

☀𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟕/𝟐𝟕☀
The US National Weather Service Melbourne Florida has issued a Heat Advisory for Volusia County including the Daytona Beach area from 11AM through 8PM today (7/27). In our area, peak heat index values are expected to reach up to 109 degrees.

Practice heat safety by staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. If you must be outside, drink water frequently and take breaks in the shade whenever possible. Most importantly, never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a moment.

Additional Heat Advisories may be issued throughout the week.

🚨𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐕𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭🚨
Daytona Beach Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Eastbound side of I-4 this afternoon. When crews arrived, they located a single vehicle on its roof with an individual trapped inside. Crews immediately began patient care, vehicle stabilization, and extrication of the patient. The patient was declared a trauma alert and transported to the hospital by Volusia County EMS.
