Pirates improve to 2-1 overall as they wrap up non-conference play.

🏴‍☠️ Riverside 35 - Spencerville 0

A shut-out win is always worth celebrating. Even after a slow start for the Pirates.

That said, HIT TO WIN was alive and well last night! 💥

Huge shoutout to the O-Line for setting the standard up front! Those guys (Jace Lemly, Drew Wilson, Cruz Parker, Liam Shoe, Guage Shoemaker, and Garrett Purtee) paved the way for a massive 8.5 yards per carry on the ground. The Pirate offense had 332 yards of total offense on 37 plays (16:28 TOP), while the Riverside defense held Spencerville to approximately 164 yards on 55 plays (31:32 TOP).

Dylan Trimble: 9 carries, 116 yards, 2 TDs

Justin Mazariegos: 7 carries, 63 yards

Gunner Carpenter: 10 carries, 57 yards, 2 TDs

Playmakers Everywhere:

Gabe Steineman came up huge with a blocked punt, as well as a huge 40 yard catch!

Corbin Reed snatched up the blocked punt and scored his first career TD!

Smart football by Kenna Johnson, who stayed calm under pressure on a high snap, made the "Fire" call just like she was coached to do, and punched in the 2-point conversion!

Great team victory! Plenty of room for improvement, a lot of work to do, but the weekend is sweeter after a victory. Onto TRC play @ Milton Union next week.

Riverside JH Pirates Defeat Miami East, Improve to 2-0

The Riverside Junior High Pirates held off the Miami East Vikings, 24-18, Tuesday night under the lights at Riverside Veterans Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Charlie Varian scored twice and Khai Johnson added a touchdown to lead the Pirates to a strong first-half advantage. Johnson, Coy Yelton, and Casey Hester each added a successful 2-point conversion.

The Vikings battled back in the second half, but the Riverside defense stood strong and held off Miami East to secure the victory.

The Pirates will return home next Tuesday, September 8, at 5:30 p.m. as they continue their season. Come out and support the RSJH Pirates! 🏴‍☠️🏈
