Good day Folks. Unfortunately, our fire district was not selected to receive funding from the FFAM grant to help us purchase a rescue tool designed for vehicle extrication. Don't be alarmed, we do have auto extrication tools for these types of jobs, however, the combination cutter/ spreader rescue tool we are seeking is battery powered, is light weight, and allows for faster deployment. Our current rescue tools are hydraulic operated that require a hydraulic gas-powered pump to function.

The DeKalb Fire Protection District continues to actively pursue grant funding to improve our emergency response capabilities while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.

Recently, the District submitted two competitive grant applications for much-needed equipment.

The first application was submitted to the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri Grant Program to request funding for a battery-operated combination rescue cutter/spreader. This versatile tool would allow for rapid deployment during motor vehicle crashes, forced-entry situations, and other emergency incidents where every second counts.

The second application was submitted to the Missouri Department of Conservation's Volunteer Fire Assistance Matching Funds Program. If awarded, these funds would be used to purchase high-efficiency fire nozzles and drip torches, essential equipment used in prescribed back-burning operations and wildland fire suppression.

Both grant opportunities are highly competitive, with fire departments from across Missouri also making application as well. While there are no guarantees of being selected, our District remains committed to pursuing every available opportunity to improve firefighter safety, enhance emergency response, and reduce the financial burden on our local taxpayers.

If awarded, these grants will provide valuable equipment that strengthens our ability to serve the community while allowing us to accomplish these improvements with minimal impact on the District's operating budget during an uncertain economic climate.

Thank you all for supporting us.
