DeWitt Fire will be participating in a mock crash at Central DeWitt High School on Thursday, April 16th at 9:00 AM.

You may see emergency vehicles in the area. This is only a mock presentation and there is no real emergency.

We’re proud to partner with the school and local agencies to help educate students on the dangers of impaired and distracted driving.

🚨 Mock Crash Presentation – Important Information for Our Community 🚨

Central DeWitt High School will host a Mock Crash Presentation on Thursday, April 16 at 9 a.m. in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, local law enforcement, fire and rescue departments, and EMS. The event will take place at the intersection of 4th Avenue East and 8th Street, behind the high school tennis courts.

⚠️ Traffic Notice:
The intersection of 8th Street and 4th Avenue East will be closed from approximately 8:00–11:00 a.m. during the event.
• Morning drop-off at the intermediate and middle schools will not be impacted
• CDHS students: the access road to the south parking lot will be closed—please use the 11th Street entrance that morning
• This closure will NOT affect nearby residents or businesses

This powerful, educational experience is designed for 10th–12th grade students and focuses on the real-life consequences of impaired and distracted driving, especially as we head into prom season and spring celebrations.

Together with our community partners, we remain committed to helping students make safe decisions, because those choices can save lives. Thank you for your understanding and support as we host this important event.

We know a lot of you are out cleaning up and doing some burning this time of year.

There is no burn ban right now, but conditions are dry, so please be careful. Fires can spread fast and get out of control quickly.

If you plan to burn:

• Keep your fire small and manageable
• Stay with it at all times
• Have a water source nearby
• Be mindful of wind conditions
• Please report all controlled burns to the Clinton County Communications non-emergency number (563-242-9211 - Option: “0”)

As always, if a fire gets out of control, call 911 right away.

Stay safe and have a great spring! 🚒
