As many of you may already know, I have decided to not to run for Mayor of East Syracuse. It was a decision that was not easy for me. I have lived in the Village for over 20 years, and have raised a young family here. My husband and I both have the same gene in that we are committed to helping people. Combined, my husband and I have over 20 years of service to the Village. We took the service in stride, and were honored to serve the people. While on that journey, we tried to do it all, be good public servants and good parents. We certainly did that. A few things happened in recent months that made us reconsider our immediate future. Our kids and our marriage have to have 100 percent attention. That would not be fair to the fine residents of East Syracuse. So today I hold my head high, and will focus on being the best mother, wife and teacher that I can be.
Our family will be moving to a new house where our kids can thrive playing baseball in the yard, and our dogs can run free. Its all about them right now. I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years, I enjoyed serving a great deal. 20 years I think is a great contribution to our community, and it is time for others to step up.
The Village needs leadership and experience, and I truly believe that Lorene Dadey will bring that to the table. She will be a stabilizing influence on the Village and will take my place on the ballot for Mayor. I encourage you to support her. Carol Para will run for Trustee in place of the late Ron Falise. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ron's family and friends. He touched a lot of peoples lives, and should be remembered fondly. Both of our new candidates have served before and have the experience necessary to do a great job. Our Village is in great hands with incredible employees and department heads. I will miss all of you and thank you for what you do everyday!
In closing, this is not the end of the road as I am continuing to serve the Village as a 5th grade teacher at ESE. I am happy to have a hand in helping our children. It was an honor to serve all of you. I wish the Village and its people the best moving forward.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Liedka
