2026 SUMMER PROPERTY TAX REMINDER NOTICE:

The City of Dearborn Heights Treasurer’s Office is mailing 2026 Summer Property Tax Reminder Notices this week to taxpayers who still have an unpaid balance.

Please note that this mailing is a reminder bill and may be used to make payment. The notice will show:

- The current amount due on your 2026 Summer Property Tax Bill.
- The amount due if paid after September 3, 2026, which includes a 0.5% penalty.
- The amount due if paid after October 1, 2026, reflecting the additional applicable penalty.

For unpaid real property taxes, an additional 0.5% penalty is added each month, up to a maximum of 3%.

Under Michigan’s General Property Tax Act, Public Act 206 of 1893, the Treasurer does not have the authority to waive required tax penalties or interest.

If you receive a reminder notice, you may use it to make payment directly at the City of Dearborn Heights Treasurer’s Office, or you may conveniently pay your property taxes online.

We encourage taxpayers with an outstanding balance to review their notice and submit payment as soon as possible to avoid additional penalties.

The City of Dearborn Heights Treasurer’s Office is pleased to announce that we are fully caught up following last week’s BS&A technology migration.

During the necessary citywide upgrade, City Hall was closed from Wednesday, August 12, through Monday afternoon, August 17. Once the new BS&A system became available, our Treasurer’s Office team immediately began processing the payments received during the closure.

We are happy to report that all tax payments, water payments, building and clerk-related payments and permits, and other payments received during this period have been posted and updated in the City’s records and general ledger.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our Treasurer’s Office staff for their exceptional teamwork and dedication in processing five days’ worth of business and bringing our records completely up to date in less than a day and a half.

Most importantly, thank you to our residents and customers for your patience, understanding, and consideration while the City completed this necessary technology improvement.

City of Dearborn Heights Treasurer’s Office — BS&A Cloud Migration Update:

The City of Dearborn Heights Treasurer’s Office sincerely thanks our residents, taxpayers, and customers for your patience and understanding during the City’s migration from BS&A .NET to BS&A Cloud.

Our last day of payment posting prior to the migration was Tuesday, August 11, 2026. All payments received by 5 p.m., August 11, 2026 were posted that day. Today, Monday, August 17, at approximately 1:00 p.m., we were able to resume posting payments in the new system.

Every member of the Treasurer’s Office team, including the Treasurer, has been working diligently to process and post the payments received during the migration period, including payments received by mail, drop box, online, and other available payment methods. Our entire staff is working together to complete this backlog as quickly and accurately as possible while becoming familiar with the new BS&A Cloud system.

Please be assured that all payments received will be posted as quickly as possible. Treasurer Lisa Hicks-Clayton will continue working beyond regular business hours as necessary until the outstanding payments have been processed and accounts are brought up to date.

As an additional reminder, the Summer 2026 property tax deadline has been extended to Thursday, September 3, 2026. No late fees will be assessed before the extended deadline.

We greatly appreciate the patience, courtesy, and understanding our residents have shown our staff during this significant technology transition. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to continue improving our systems and better serving the residents of Dearborn Heights.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify. The City Hall closure and BS&A Cloud training are not specific to the Treasurer’s Office. This is a city-wide technology migration involving departments throughout the City of Dearborn Heights, including the Clerk’s Office, Assessor’s Office, Comptroller’s Office, Building Department, Ordinance Department, Treasurer’s Office, and others.

The City has used the BS&A .NET system for many years, dating back to the 1990s. That platform is now obsolete, making the transition to BS&A Cloud necessary. A migration of this magnitude requires both system conversion and employee training so that each department can properly use the new platform when services resume.

While City Hall is temporarily closed to the public during portions of this transition, employees are working and participating in the training necessary to ensure a successful conversion. This is an important city-wide investment in modernizing our technology, improving efficiency, and ultimately providing better service to our residents and taxpayers.

I appreciate the opportunity to clarify the information, as it is important that our residents receive a complete and accurate understanding of why this transition is taking place.

A Note of Clarification from the Treasurer’s Office

I would like to respectfully clarify an important point regarding the temporary closure of City Hall.

A closed building does not mean employees are not working. During this temporary closure, our staff is actively participating in required technology training, completing the BS&A Cloud migration process, and continuing the important work necessary to serve our residents and taxpayers.

While the public may not be able to conduct business at the counter during this brief transition, our team continues to report, train, work, and prepare for the successful implementation of the new system. This is not time off—it is an essential part of modernizing our operations and improving the services we provide.

I respectfully ask that assumptions not be made about the dedication or work ethic of employees simply because City Hall is temporarily closed to the public. Our employees work hard every day, and they deserve the same professionalism and respect that they extend to those we serve.

We remain committed to getting the job done and being ready to serve you when normal public operations resume.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE CITY OF DEARBORN HEIGHTS TREASURER’S OFFICE
BS&A SYSTEM UPGRADE & PAYMENT PROCESSING

Dear Dearborn Heights Taxpayers, Water Customers, and Residents:

City Hall is closed beginning Wednesday, August 12, through Monday, August 17 at noon while the City completes a required BS&A system migration from .NET to BS&A Cloud. This important technology upgrade is necessary as the existing system has become obsolete and must be transitioned to the newer cloud-based platform.

During the migration, the BS&A system is unavailable, which means we are unable to process or post payments or perform data entry. However, please be assured that payments may continue to be submitted through our available payment methods during this period.

Most importantly, every payment received during this period, including Monday, August 17—whether received through U.S. Postal Service mail, our drop boxes, online, or in person once City Hall reopens—will be entered and posted on Monday, August 17.

As your Treasurer, I want our residents to know that I will remain in the Treasurer’s Office on Monday until every payment received during this transition period has been entered and posted. Our goal is to make this necessary technology upgrade as seamless as possible while continuing to provide dependable service to our community.

The City Council has adopted Treasurer Lisa Hicks-Clayton's resolution to extend the summer tax deadline to Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Per the Michigan General Tax Act 206 of 1893, the governing body can extend tax deadlines.

Please note- all tax, invoices, permit fees, water payments received as of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 5 p.m. have been posted and accounts are updated. All payments are posted the day received by the Treasurer's office.

The City of Dearborn Heights Treasurer’s Office would like residents to be aware that due to the major BS&A Cloud system migration, we will be unable to process or post tax or water payments in the BS&A system from Tuesday, August 11 at 4:30 p.m. through Monday, August 17 at approximately 12:00 noon.

Payments may still be submitted by mail or through our drop boxes during this period; however, they cannot be posted until the system becomes available.

Please be assured that our Treasurer’s Office is committed to minimizing any disruption. All payments received through today, Monday, August 10, have been posted, including mail, drop-box, and online payments.

On Monday, August 17, once BS&A becomes available, Treasurer Lisa Hicks-Clayton will remain after business hours as necessary to ensure all payments received are posted before leaving for the day. All payments received during the migration will be posted on Monday, August 17, 2026.
