DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — The Dearborn Heights Police Department is investigating a domestic-related homicide that occurred on the morning of August 25, 2026, in the 5400 block of Huron Street in the city’s South End.
At approximately 10:06 AM, officers were dispatched to the location for a report of a verbal dispute between two known parties. Upon arrival, officers forced entry into the residence and found a 46-year-old female unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and Dearborn Heights Fire Department EMS personnel immediately began CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead on scene.
A 35-year-old male suspect, also known to the victim, was located with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
The incident is believed to be an isolated domestic violence incident, with no threat to the public.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones affected by this senseless act of violence,” said Police Chief Mike Guzowski. “Our officers responded quickly and did everything they could to save this victim’s life. This investigation remains active.”
