In two weeks, learn about Ford's lumbering operations in the Upper Peninsula during a lecture given by Todd Bryan on November 4th. This lecture on Ford's community of Alberta Michigan will be happening at the McFadden Ross starting at 7PM. While the lecture is free, donations will be gratefully accepted.

Over the weekend it was announced the last Sign of the Beefcarver is closing in Royal Oak.

Originally started in 1957, the chain operated as many as 15 restaurants in Metro Detroit and Chicago. The restaurants were originally known as Sign of the Beefeater. However, a trademark dispute with Beefeater gin forced them to change their name in 1979. At the time, the chain was actually owned by the famous department store company Montgomery Wards.

Pictured is the former Dearborn location 23100 Michigan Avenue which operated from around 1968 until 2018. The photo likely dates from not long after its original opening.

This shot of the Commandant's Quarters was taken 50 years ago today. It shows the construction of Arsenal Park and restoration work on the CQ after the demolition of the neighboring fire station.
