It's day 4 and some of our neighbors are still without power. Why does this keep happening? Because DTE spends millions on lobbying and PAC contributions to the same elected officials who are supposed to hold them accountable, including our own state rep. Alabas Farhat. As you can see above he has a 91% rating from DTE as one of their strongest allies in Lansing.

When the people writing the rules are taking money from the company they're regulating, is it any surprise the rate hikes keep getting approved while reliability doesn't improve?

We deserve a state rep who works for us, not for DTE's shareholders. Not someone cashing utility PAC checks while our lights are out and groceries are spoiling.

300,000+ of us just lost power. Again.

Storms rolled through Friday and by Friday night over 300,000 DTE customers in Southeast Michigan were sitting in the dark. This isn’t a once-a-decade freak event. It’s becoming routine.

DTE just posted record earnings, nearly $1.5 billion in 2025, up from $1.4 billion the year before. Record profits. Record rate hikes. And a grid that still can’t survive a 15 minute storm?

Why does this keep happening? Because DTE spends millions on lobbying and PAC contributions to the same elected officials who are supposed to hold them accountable, including our own state representative, Alabas Farhat. When the people writing the rules are taking money from the company they’re regulating, is it any surprise the rate hikes keep getting approved while reliability doesn’t improve?

Enough is enough!
We can thank DTE for our seniors having to pay higher rent in senior housing. When utility costs go up, those increases often get passed along, and many seniors living on fixed incomes are the ones who end up paying the price. Meanwhile, our state representative continues to accept campaign contributions from DTE.
