NWS has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Southeast Wise County.

Please stay indoors and take necessary precautions. Winds may be as high as 60mph!

No electricity? Displaced by grass fires? We are here for you. Our emergency Cooling Station will be open here at First United Methodist Church from 5:30pm until 8:00pm tonight, Monday, August 24. Come get out of the heat, relax, hydrate, have a meal, and charge your devices. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets. The Cooling Station is located in the Methodist Activity Center, the building on the South side of our parking lot at 104 South Miller Street. UPDATE 7:25p: 51 N is open

UPDATE:51 N is shut down in both directions between 380 and CR 2320. Please find an alternate route and avoid the area while crews continue to work. 

Crews are working a large grass fire off 51 N and CR 2225. Please avoid the area to allow crews to work and find an alternate route as roads may be blocked.
