Storm chances will increase tonight into Friday across parts of North and Central Texas.

A few storms may develop across our western counties this evening, but confidence in that scenario is low. The better chance for storms arrives overnight into Friday morning as a cold front moves south through North Texas. Lightning, strong winds and heavy rain will all be possible with the strongest storms.

Additional scattered storms may develop Friday afternoon, but the exact location and coverage will depend on where the front and any leftover storm boundaries end up.

Areas unaffected by thunderstorms will have another hot and humid afternoon with heat index values up to 105. Following a hot and dry Saturday, higher rain chances will arrive with an unseasonably strong cold front on Sunday and Monday.

While the overall severe weather threat remains low, a few storms may produce gusty winds and frequent lightning. Most locations south of I-20 are expected to remain dry and warm, with afternoon temperatures reaching the low to mid 90s.
