Decatur's local library was named after Iva Jane Scoggins Peek who was a local teacher from 1927-1962. Iva Jane, as she was affectionately called by her students was the first-grade teacher for many years before becoming a third-grade teacher. She was beloved by the community and was also a big advocate for reading and books. As we know she inspired a love for reading in her students and community.
