Adoptions are one of the most moving parts of my job. I am so grateful to make “official” what love has already made a family. This young lady gave me a special gift, a sign of dedication and resilience when she was going through a challenging time. Her effervescent happiness was infectious!! We cried and laughed!! I attended two great conferences in July 2026 at the SAME time. NCJFCJ and All Rise were scheduled during the same week. I had already planned to attend NCJFCJ when I discovered that All Rise would also be in Nashville. I could not miss this opportunity to gather insight, information, and encouragement from others working with Accountability Courts, especially Veterans Treatment Court. As inspired as I was, I can not recommend attending both conferences at once. I was exhausted. Nora Polk

National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges 2026 Conference. I had a wonderful time presenting with my fellow jurists and celebrating the installation of our new president, Judge Amanda Heath from the great state of Georgia!!! The judges from Georgia surrounded her with our support and love as she started this new role. I am honored to be a part of NCJFCJ with the many judges from around the country who strive to do all they can in the best interests of our children. Nora Polk

2026 Annual Courthouse Summer Interns Lunch. Division 8 hosted a gathering for law school students interning in various areas of the courthouse (Superior Courts, State Court, Public Defender’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, etc) to interact and network. Judge Lake was my co-host and took over the games when I had a conflict. The students had a wonderful time and I met another Texas A&M Aggie!!!! Whoop!! Nora Polk

June 2026 was a month of profound joy with several life-changing adoptions uniting families. I also wrapped up my term as Chair of the NCJFCJ Curriculum Committee and welcomed new participants to our Veterans Treatment Court. We held virtual court sessions due to FIFA activities in Decatur Square. Kicks and Courts can coexist 😉⚽️🏃🏾👩🏾‍⚖️ Nora Polk
