Different units. Different responsibilities. ONE shared mission: serving DeKalb County with purpose, collaboration and a commitment to justice.

Today’s office-wide training took a more interactive approach as employees rotated from presenter to presenter in a round-robin format, hearing directly from leaders across the DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office.

Each unit and program highlighted three key things they want employees to know and understand about their work, giving staff a chance to reconnect with familiar teams, learn more about areas they may not work with every day, and see how each part of the office contributes to our larger mission.

The moving format kept the energy high and the conversations focused.

Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling went through the presentations, saying...
“We are victim-centered and community oriented. We pursue justice, not just convictions. We offer solutions over problems.”

The Solicitor closed the meeting with a reminder to remain centered on the people we serve and the solutions we can provide.

🎓 We’re back in school and connecting schools, families and community!

Our Diversion Program recently joined DeKalb County School District social workers for a conversation on Educational Neglect: Chronic Absenteeism & Senate Bill 123, which impacts school attendance protocols.

Deputy Chief of Diversion Shari Jones discussed how schools and community partners can work together to address attendance concerns and support students and families.

She was joined by Charlotte Starks from our office and DCSD Lead Social Worker Katina Watts, along with social workers from across the district.

Our Diversion Program is about more than addressing cases after they reach the justice system. It’s also about education, early intervention and connecting families with resources.

We appreciate our partnership with DeKalb County School District and the social workers supporting students and families every day!

🏚️AFFORDABILITY, QUALITY, and PRESERVATION🏡.... just a few topics County Leaders discussed this week at the DeKalb County Comprehensive Housing Plan Community Showcase!

Our Community Prosecutor Keith Collins was there as residents and County partners came together to learn more about DeKalb’s housing needs, hear about ongoing efforts and share their thoughts during a community Q&A.

For the DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office, being part of these conversations matters. We gain a better understanding of the quality-of-life concerns affecting communities throughout DeKalb and how we can continue working together toward safer, stronger neighborhoods.

We loved seeing you across DeKalb County for National Night Out!

Dozens of our staff members were out greeting residents and sharing information about the work and services our office provides. We joined celebrations in Clarkston, Chamblee, the Flintridge Forest community in the Tucker Precinct, Creekwood Hills and the Rockbridge Coalition, and the City of Stonecrest.

The smiling faces tell the story!

The evening also gave us an opportunity to introduce Assistant Solicitor-General Keith Collins in his new role as Community Prosecutor.

“National Night Out gives us an opportunity to meet residents where they are, explain how each unit in our office serves the community, listen directly to their concerns and, this year, introduce Keith Collins as our new Community Prosecutor,” said Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling.

“I am proud to serve in this role,” Collins said. “While prosecutors are often associated with the courtroom, my work also happens in the community, building relationships, listening to concerns and partnering with community groups.”

National Night Out reminds us that safer communities are built through communication, trust and partnership. We look forward to participating each year!
