UPDATE for Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026: NEW WATER WELL RULES START IN 2027 β€” The minimum acreage needed to drill a new water well in western Wise County will jump from 2 acres to 5 acres beginning Jan. 1 under a new Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District rule approved last week. The minimum acreage required to drill a new water well in western Wise County will jump from 2 acres to 5 acres beginning Jan. 1 under a new Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District rule approved last week.

The 5-acre minimum lot size requirement applies to areas where the Trinity aquifer thins to 60 feet thick or less. It only applies to property subdivided after Dec. 31, 2026.

Residential development growth in Bridgeport is coming.

Dirt work on Walker's Park, a 743-home development planned on the east side of the city, began earlier this summer.

The Wise County EMS ambulance crew deployed last week to assist with the Ross Fire has been reassigned to College Station to assist with Tropical Storm Edouard response.

Paramedic Cooper Holland and EMT Cooper Goodman, who are deployed aboard Medic 8 as part of Emergency Medical Task Force 2, were reassigned to the state’s response to the incoming gulf storm. The storm is expected to make landfall tomorrow afternoon, impacting parts of Texas and Louisiana.

Preuninger said local EMS staffing is still at normal levels.

State Street Pizza in Decatur announces it will be open for business tomorrow after a vehicle crashed and damaged part of its building .

We got the restaurant boarded up and cleaned up as best as we could, and we’re ready to get back to serving you!

Over the next couple of weeks, our schedule may look a little different as we work through repairs and construction, but tomorrow we will be OPEN for our regular business hours.
