Motorists are also reminded to follow the state's Move Over or Slow Down law. It requires drivers to move over a lane or reduce their speed to 20 mph below the posted speed limit when approaching vehicles stopped with flashing lights activated on the roadside or shoulder. That's not just law enforcement cars, but also emergency vehicles, TxDOT vehicles, tow trucks, and utility vehicles.

Tomorrow morning, backpacks come out of hiding, alarms start ringing way too early, and “five more minutes” officially returns to the morning vocabulary. 😄

The Decatur Police Department will be conducting training with Decatur ISD from 8am to 12pm today. There will be numerous emergency vehicles at the High School. This is planned training and there is no cause for alarm.

If you're 14–20 years old and have completed the 8th grade, this is your chance to learn about law enforcement through hands-on activities, weekly meetings, community service, and opportunities to compete with Explorer posts from across the state.

Community partnerships make a difference.
This young entrepreneur was raising funds for school supplies and soccer equipment, and our officers were happy to stop by, support her efforts, and enjoy a refreshing glass of lemonade.

Penelope even delivered extra lemonade to the Police Department to make sure everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a glass.

We are proud to support the members of our community and encourage the hard work, determination, and generosity of our youth.
