Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois Non profit youth mentoring agency serving Champaign, DeWitt, Ford, Iroquois, Livingston, Macon, Morgan, Piatt, Sangamon, and Vermilion counties.

For some children, it’s harder than most. Single-parent homes, neighborhoods with gangs and crime, absent parents, poor role models, and poverty can lead a child to despair, lack of self-worth, and ultimately poor choices.

💙 Celebrating Jeff Mays: Board Member, Mentor, and Advocate 💙

During Tuesday night's Board of Directors meeting, our CEO, Saramanda Hall, had the privilege of honoring longtime supporter and advocate Jeff Mays with a plaque to celebrate his years of service.

While Jeff’s official term on our board has come to a close, his dedication to Big Brothers Big Sisters goes far beyond the boardroom—he is a true champion for youth in our community, and his impact will live on for years to come.

In addition to his five years serving on our board, he has also been a dedicated mentor to two Little Brothers, as well as a loyal supporter and donor.

Jeff, thank you for your advocacy, your leadership, and your big heart. While your time on the board has ended, we know you will always be a vital part of our village.

Please join us in the comments in congratulating Jeff on his award and thanking him for everything he has done for our mission! 👇

On this D-Day, we pause to remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the Allied forces who landed in Normandy 82 years ago. Their bravery shaped history and reminds us that acts of service can create lasting impact for generations to come.

Today, we honor their legacy and give thanks for the freedoms they helped secure.

Our Champaign area matches had a beautiful night at Burwash Park for our annual picnic! Together, they enjoyed dinner, celebrated the end of the school year, and honored two fantastic graduating seniors! 🎉

🎓 Little Brother Kenyada has been matched with his Big Brother Zach since 2019. Kenyada is proudly attending Hartnell College in California this fall, where he will also be furthering his football career!

🎓 Little Sister Brooke has been matched with Big Sister Presley since 2021. Brooke is already crushing it in the workforce full-time, has earned a promotion, and is excited to attend Parkland College to pursue her interests in business and psychology!

The friendship, guidance, and support provided by their mentors have helped Brooke and Kenyada develop the confidence, resiliency, and independence they need to thrive in their next chapter. We are so incredibly proud of them! 💚🖤

👏 A BIG thank you to Neil St. Blues for providing the delicious fried chicken for our event!

A strong mentoring relationship can change the trajectory of a young person’s life. When youth have access to a safe, welcoming space and someone who believes in them, they begin to feel that they truly belong. That sense of belonging unlocks confidence, resilience, and opportunity. This , we're celebrating the
strength and spark that lives in every youngperson.
